How I work as an integrative counselling therapist

Overall my focus is to help you get more out of life in the present but we might want to explore past relationships, events and trauma if they are affecting life now.. Once trust between us takes root, I believe a combination of support and challenge will enable you to feel more hopeful and motivated in dealing with the difficulties you face.  I use a range of therapeutic approaches and my many years in the NHS has given me the competence and confidence to help people make the changes they seek, effectively and efficiently.

Working with couples

My focus in working with couples is to help develop trust, resilience and hope in the face of stress and conflict. Some couples are looking for understanding whilst others look for active change.  And others may want an amicable separation    But for all couples, feelings need full attention as they lie at the heart of good communication.  A key part of the work involves exploring perceptions of ‘incompatibility’ and handling differences. When appropriate I help couples to create their own First Aid Couple Repair Kit.  My approach is practical, collaborative and creative.  Fees are negotiable on request.

Clinical Supervision

As a qualified clinical supervisor, I have worked with counsellors and supervisors within the NHS and privately.  My management training experience has given me extra tools and sensitivity to enable people to move forward in their practice at whatever stage.  I offer a free initial consultation as the personal fit is so important.  Reduced fees may be available.
